Here at Sibling Grubbery we are well into Portland Dumpling Week and have been having a fantastic time of it. So when we heard that our favorite hole in the wall Meatball spot was getting in on the dumpling fun we made it a priority to stop by before the week was over and try their Limited time Semolina Gnocchi Alla Romana.
Trust us. It did not disappoint.

Now honestly going in we did not expect much from this dumpling. This shop with its specialty in meatballs sliders and pastas is always delicious but dumplings never came to mind. Still glad to be proven wrong. These dumplings were an oven warm gooey sensation.

Every bite filled with cheese and coated in a fabulous house made marinara sauce so good it had us basically licking the plate clean. Honestly we’d love to go into more detail but really this is a simple but well executed dish that it’s hard to know what else to say about it. Reminiscent of a baked Ravioli in flavor and with the softness of cheese ricotta. It’s a blend of hot and soft, warm and comforting. It’s exactly what you need to warm you up on these cold rainy Portland days.
And for our foodies on a budget this is a great deal. At $8 for a plate this will not only fill your stomach but also make your tastebuds sing. It’s well priced, well made and just a good dumpling. We truly hope they keep these on the menu long after the week is up.
