La Provence
17719 SE Mill Plain Blvd, Vancouver, WA 98683

As we all know the Portland Vancouver area is still stuck in the weird limbo that is the states role out plan for dine in. so for us foodies hoping for a tasty something to dine on we are having to eat outdoors without too many walls in a PNW winter.
Still that won’t stop us and it doesn’t stop La Provence, the newest addition to the petite Provence family of restaurant and bakeries and the first of which to open this last year in the Vancouver area. With their staff masked, the heaters turned on high and the tents surrounding the building it is still possible to enjoy a brunch time treat at this French bistro.

With a tasty array of baked goods front and center. We have been delighted by the quality of the fluffy croissants, fresh baguettes, decadent cakes and just delicious pastries they make here. Baked from scratch these treats make it worth trying out. So if you are not quite crazy for dining out right now you can swing by and enter the separate bakery section and surprise your family at home with some goodies

Of course we didn’t come her just for pastries but for a full and filling brunch! To begin we tried Chorizo Hash Scramble, this dish made with fresh hash potatoes is tossed in a lightly spiced chorizo sausage and scrambled eggs. All put together with black beans and greens to cut back on the oil and give you a refreshed feeling while dining. Finished with a cilantro creme fraiche to compliment the spice just so. At $13.75 this is a hearty breakfast that will make you full and satisfied without any guilt, and for our vegetarian friends they also offer this same dish with vegan chorizo and tofu eggs. Although honestly we love the meat and scramble just the way they are.

Then for something a bit more original we went on to try the Baked Eggs a la Franciase. This dish is exactly what we were craving, served in a cast iron with rustic crustini bread on the side this fare evokes a French farm style meal with simple and pure style.

Hash potatoes nestled in the bottom with ham, topped with two eggs and them drowned in a gruyere bechamel sauce, baked with a Swiss topper until golden brown. This is crispy on the top but wonderful gooey cheesy on the inside. With the eggs yolk cooked to perfection.

This dish is not just excellent for dipping bread into but also just to devour with a fork and gusto. Again just at $13.75 this dish will make you feel satisfied without making your wallet feel too light.

These foods we accompanied with a colorful mimosa flight of Pineapple, Grapefruit, Lavender and of course Orange with plenty of champagne.
We had just an excellent time at La Provence and are excited to come back and try the rest of their menu. (Or at least snag a chocolate croissant ) but for our foodies on a budget we must say with drinks and entrees it is easy to spend at least $50 for a breakfast for two. Still it’s nice to splurge and treat yourselves.

We give La Provence seven croissants out of ten
