Burger Week 2021!!!!

It’s that time of year again. That time where waistlines are in danger and tastebuds start to quiver in anticipation….

It’s Portland Burger Week!!!!!!

Sponsored by New Seasons Marketplace, this wonderful time of year has dozens of local restaurants participating in a battle royal of who can do the best burger. All for the low low price of $6 a Burger!

So of course as with any week long event we have to try as many of these burgers as we can without our stomachs and hearts exploding. So that means we will be trekking out into the urban unknown maze of bites and bring to you our favorite five Burger Bites!

Burger 1- Brunch BoxThe Brunch Burger

When embarking on a long day of burger eating you should always start with breakfast…or more accurately Brunch!

This Burger bite is served on an Everything Bagel with a Beef Patty nestled on a Hash Brown Base, topped with Bacon and Grilled Onions. Served with a freshly cooked Fried Egg and Drizzled with Aardvark Hot Sauce. It is spicy, crunchy and satisfying all at once. This Brunch Burger is the best way to start a busy morning so long as you don’t eat so much you end up in a food coma.

Burger 2 – Danwei Canting – Sichuan Beef Burger

Sometimes good things come in small packages. The Burger Bite here at Danwei is living proof of that.

bigger than a slider but not by too much, most might overlook this simple sounding burger with just the basic veggies and beef. What sets it apart though is the Special Sichuan Burger Sauce! Served on a perfectly seasoned patty, this sauce was so addictive that before we knew it the burger had vanished and we were left with just crumbs and memories. This is a burger you need to buy at least one for each hand. Well worth it.

Burger 3 – Home a Bar – Jean Claude Van Wagyu Burger

This is the epitome of a bar burger bite. It is just the thing you want on a late Saturday night after a few too many drinks when things are getting a bit dizzy.

A fine Wagyu Beef Patty is served on a bed of Dill Pickles and Garlic. Then topped with a gooey Provolone drizzled with a Peppercorn Sauce and finished with a handful of Crispy French Fries to add just that right amount of crunch and salt to finish this bad boy. After this you are ready for another drink

Burger 4 – New Seasons – Slaw Spice and Everything Nice Burger

Of course in our burger tasting we needed to give credit where credit was due. The New Seasons Slaw Burger! They made this entire week of far too many burgers possible by sponsoring the burger week event and as such we couldn’t go out list without giving them a taste.

This Grass fed Beef Patty was char grilled very nicely giving the perfect bbq exterior to this meat. Then topped with Havarti cheese wonderfully melted and blended with a Harissa Aioli to give just the hint of spice and all nestled on a comfy bed of Summer Slaw giving a richness of veggies which we very much needed after a week of burger eating.

Not the most amazing burger you will ever eat, but for something from a grocery store deli it is certainly holding its own.

Burger 5 – Portland Burger – Enter Sandman

Finally what better place to end Portland Burger Week than at Portland Burger! This entry is a showstopper! With a hearty portion size, maybe double that of some of the other burger entries!

And it’s not just big but truly delicious! Served on a beautifully fluffy Pub Bun from Portland Bakery, this Chuck Beef Patty is topped with Dragon Mango Pico de Gallo salsa giving a light tropical flavor. Crispy fried Onions for a crunchy mouthfeel, and finished with a Berry Tequila Lacquer for moisture and refreshing flavor all blending together in a fairly perfect burger.
